The Music of CrossPoint

Every Sunday Morning I get to hear amazing Worship Music done by an amazing worship band (The Buckwalter Band). About twelve years ago, I began collecting songs, dreaming of the day that they would be played in worship. Two and a half years ago, I began hearing them played in worship when The Church of the Cross launched its newest service geared to reach all of us born after 1965.
Most of us grew up with a sound track to our lives. I have been making "Mixed Tapes" for two and a half decades. I call them "Play Lists" now, but they are essentially the same thing. Anyway, I love to share music with people, especially music that gives God what he deserves- GLORY!
Many of these songs are dream songs (Holy-waterdeep, Send the Wind, Those Who Trust, 40, Faithful to Me, You Have Redeemed My Soul, Wonderful Creator, Psalm 57, I'll Wear a White Robe) that I have always wanted to hear done in a contemporary worship setting. Others have been introduced by our very talented worship leader, David Sadd and the equally talented band members who make up our worship team. The Meet Jesus Sermon Series

David Sadd and I just finished the background images for the next sermon series that I will be doing here at The Church of the Cross' CrossPoint Service. The series is called Meet Jesus and will focus on Jesus' encounters with others leading up to his death on the cross and following his ressurection. The influence for this series came from a series that Tim Keller did in 1997 called The Real Jesus.

The background image that will be used for this sermon series will carry us from Palm Sunday, Easter and Jesus' reinstating Peter on the shore of the Sea of Galilee. The image is a collage of Michaelangelo's The Creation of Adam from the Sistine Chapel, and a cobblestone street that has the image of a cross in the background. I am psyched about this background and love the worship experience that goes into creating these types of pieces of art that we use in worship week in and week out.
